I always thought subway/metro operators have a decent trip planner, where they integrate travel time and fares when you click destination A to B.. But turns out i was wrong,
So i went to smrt.com.sg(Singapore’s major metro/subway). Guess what ? They have a cutting edge caveman era trip planner(can you spot it?). Another surprising thing i found, they have a separate page for fare calculation yet they don’t integrate it with a trip planner.. I mean since you already operate most of the lines here, why not have a trip + fare planner/calculator? Doesn’t it makes sense to do it?
Why? Is it so hard to do so? The company is public listed already, surely they have the resources right ?
Just for the sake of curiosity, Let me just go check on another operator , SBS transit(minor metro/subway but Major Bus operator).
Despite being a smaller train operator , they actually have what i need!! A all in one page displaying , Traveling time, Travel Fare and first/last train. Amazing! Sadly i hardly use their train service.
However, i have to say their site itself is badly design. I had a hard time navigating around the site. Whereas the SMRT site is more clear cut and hell lot easier to navigate. I just didn’t like their train section.
Yes both sites do allow me to get what i need to know(if i can’t then their sites really have an issue) but at the cost of their customers clicking the “Close” button in frustration due to the site navigation? Both sites should seriously look into revamping their sites.
What about you guys? how is it like at your side?

Public transportation here basically 1. doesnt exist and 2. the stuff that does is horrid. Not just in California either, but the entire US pretty much has garbage for public transportation – so the only trip planner we have is google maps and gas money.
yikes , now that sucks. i guess you drive around a lot ?
Yeah, its pretty normal here, pretty much guaranteed to be driving if you leave the house and arent just going a house or two down to a neighbors or something.
