Magic the gathering

I’ve played Magic the gathering back when i was younger some 10 years back. I think back then was Urza’s Legacy. But 10 years back i was only 12 and the rules were quite daunting(partly i didn’t got so into reading up the basic rules). So i never got about into playing them, prefer collecting them instead. So i ended up with a big collection but end of which i gave quite a lot away. Thinking back i shouldn’t have given a chunk away, kinda regret what i did but what’s done is done.

Fast forward 2009 , i find MTG rather affordable IF you have some sort of disposable income at your hands. I paid S$18 for a pack of 75 cards that’s more than enough to build a quick 40 card deck and within 30mins i could get into the thick of the action. Of course, ultimately is to expand your card collection so you can construct a standard 60 card. The rule book now are available as a pdf online and also youtube vids to show you how to play. The more advance can be picked up as you play along. No point to read all the rules , there’s always some you will never use in a game.

Currently, Shards of Alara is the new game. There’s 3 sets , Shards of alara, Conflux and Alara reborn. I bought the tournament pack of Shards of Alara and wow the new mechanics in the game are so much fun or probably they’re old(not all are old) mechanics and i just didn’t understood them back then. My younger brother bought the Onslaught instead but that set also are very fun to play with/against. They have unique mechanics in it to chalk up their advantages. He’s only 17 and he understand the damn rules better than me, kids these days are getting smarter(makes me looks bad!).

Its really nice to dive back into something that you do when you’re younger. The art and text on the cards are probably what lured me into playing/collecting MTG back then. I think i might want to get a few more booster packs to expand my Shards of Alara collection. Maybe go over the comics mart @ Serene center to observe FNM and see how MTG is really played. So right now back into being a noob in MTG.

Anyone else playing MTG ? Kinda looking for other players in my area that don’t mind to play a few rounds.
