I remember when i was a kid, i used to catch taiwan/hong kong dubbed animes during school holidays and the weekends early morning. There were some pretty interesting ones that i would like to mention today. Lucky for kids these days with broadband internet, they don’t need to know their tv shows time slots at their back of their palms like i use to do.
Back then, things were so simple. It’s just tv time or a video tape that your friend’s friend’s friend neighbor’s father bought from those road side hawkers that sells about anything. I have a few that i can remember vaguely but there’s just another few which i can’t seem to recall their bloody title.

Don’t know if you guys caught it before, i really love this anime when i was younger. Yat anshin was a space themed anime and the concept is that they’re a space traveling company that organizes tours and do odd jobs to other planets but things always never turn out to be as planned as every episode was an adventure for both the crews and those watching. On top of that innocent story, they have a darker ones for those slightly older to watch alongside their younger siblings and that is on top of touring, Goro(lead boy) is searching for his father. His father basically made the hyper space gates that allowed them to jump from systems to systems. I can’t really remember the details but , I think the company that made the gates was hiding something from Goro and of course trapped his dad elsewhere and i think at the end, it was a happily ever after, without Goro’s father because he needed to stop the hyper space gate from crashing and something along the line,…….. i think. So sorry it has been so long since i last watched it.
Next , Mashin Eiyuden Wataru

Here’s a wiki link to wataru and seems it back in the 90’s this was a great hit, I couldn’t agree more. This anime really was great, it captivated me for as long as it aired and even after it stopped airing, i was always on a look out for the anime in vcd/dvd shops for a few years before i decided to give up looking. Here’s something from the wiki,
- Mashin is 21 this year and i’m 21(22 this may) too.
- Brave Story was a spinoff from this amazing anime and brave story too was just as great and it appeals to current generation. Doubt mashin will do well in our current time.
Mashin about a boy transported to a magical world and pilots SD-mecha that can talk. The own anime is very RPG(brave story too), whereby they can actually level up and fighting in stages as the anime progresses. Of course the bad guys gets stronger as well and until they fight the ultimate baddie. With the golden form they wipe the ultimate baddie in the end of course and save the world
.
These 2 animes are those that i watched during my primary school time. There are still a lot more but i really can’t seem to remember what the titles are so googling around for information is a bitch. Even for mashin eiyuden wataru took me some time to finally find it. YAT was totally a lucky stumble. I didn’t really bother about titles i just knew what time slot to catch and what they’re showing about so even the titles looked so weird to me right now. Also with taiwan/hong kong dubbing , the titles are in chinese as well so googling with english really is tough.
If i can remember more titles i would put up articles on it. But no promises regarding the stuff i remember , it may not be accurate and i’m also using many reference from the information that i’ve gathered.

I love wataru! I watched heaps when I was small and I still have very fond memories of it.
The tapes / vcds / dvds? are rare though :/ I’ve searched all over HK and couldn’t find any…
